Disney on Ice. What this picture omits is my husband appearing with these hats on his head, four overpriced snow cones, four large sodas, and two bags of cotton candy tied to his belt.
If you were waiting around for good pictures, well, these are not those pictures. These are, however, a snapshot of the fun times we had in our long week in Texas. It's been a long time since I celebrated a major holiday with my brother and my sister, and now that we have three spouses and 5.5 kids between us (Liz is expecting her newest bundle 'o joy in May!), things are wild and wonderful.
Even the SD card on my good camera was dominated by blurry pictures of various family members engaged in wrestling and dodge ball matches - you'd think we spent the whole week in battle. So, it wasn't exactly a high-brow holiday. It was, however, wonderful.
I'll get you some of those good pictures.... you know... at some point.
In the meantime, here's the terrible ones! Hope your Thanksgiving was just as blurry and wonderful!

Up, up, and away!!

Even with some pretty exciting turbulence and mighty headwinds, flying is a welcome change to driving to Texas.
|
The newlyweds - baby brother James, and his lovely bride, Sara.

When did my son start to look just like my brother?

Muppet Mouth, and all? (I'm pretty sure Rome could also fit ten grapes in his mouth.)
And of course, there was the food. We started with a cheese and olive plate, an olive oil and balsamic vinegar tasting with homemade focaccia, and stuffed jalapenos wrapped in bacon. Salad course was spinach and orange salad with walnuts, followed by a soup course - butternut squash bisque. Our main course was a turducken with my dad's cranberry sauce, spinach madeline, cornbread dressing, seared brussel sprouts, and mashed potatoes. Bananas Foster and creme brulee for dessert, although nobody had enough stomach space for that creme brulee, and it had to wait until the next day. It was glorious, and totally worth the weight gain.
Happy Thanksgiving, y'all!
