Happy Halloween: Part I

My husband really gets into Halloween. It runs in the family - his mom has made it up (or down, as our geographical case may be) every Halloween except the two we were in Germany. She and her husband come out, decorate the house, carve the pumpkins, and generally make pagan merriment.

Yes, that's Oma, placing a dismembered hand under the lawnmower.

R's little homemade decoration. There's a bloody skull in a dog bowl that goes along with it. I'll spare you.
This is good, because this is pretty much how I feel about Halloween.

This IS my Halloween t-shirt. I did break out the red patent leather high heels and eyeliner. Does that count?

It works out fine, because R and his folks take the kids trick or treating, and I stay home and drink wine pass out candy. It's a good system.

R: "What spider?"

Me: "Bwah ha ha ha!!!"
Things are getting kind of wild around here, though. Our trick-or-treat entourage is getting pretty awesome. This year, it included three adults, two ninjas, a Power Ranger, a seventies throw-back rock star, a werewolf, a skeleton joker, Rapunzel, and Tinkerbell. In no particular order.

Actually, I'm pretty sure there was no order whatsoever.

I'm at home now, waiting for their return, so we can do our annual candy binge, and go to bed really late. (Whose idea was it to schedule Halloween on a Monday, huh??) And then, off to school they go tomorrow, so I can steal their peanut butter cups.

Happy Halloween!
